ARQIS advises Active Capital Company on successful exit of portfolio company in Germany

06. October 2022

ARQIS has advised Active Capital Company (ACC) on the divestment of the majority of the share capital of LED specialist SchahlLED Lighting (SchahlLED) to FW Thorpe Plc (Thorpe).

ACC invested in SchahlLED in 2019. It was ACC’s first direct investment in Germany. SchahlLED is a provider of intelligent LED solutions for the industrial and logistics sectors. The company is based in Unterschleissheim near Munich and is active in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Poland. Together with the management, ACC achieved a strong growth, becoming the preferred LED solution provider to many manufacturing and logistics players. Becoming part of the Thorpe Group launches the next growth phase for SchahlLED, especially for pan-European expansion. The senior management team will remain in the business.

Thorpe, headquartered in Worcestershire, UK and listed on the London Stock Exchange designs, manufactures and supplies professional lighting equipment. The addition of SchahlLED builds upon a successful partnership. SchahlLED and Thorlux Lighting, a division of the FW Thorpe Plc group, have worked together since 2019 distributing SmartScan products primarily into the German market.

The ARQIS-Team around Dr. Mauritz von Einem and Dr. Christof Alexander Schneider has advised ACC on several transactions during the past years, including two add-on transactions for SchahlLED. ACC is an independent private equity investor focused on small and medium-sized enterprises in the Netherlands and Germany. ACC maximizes the long-term value of its investments by supporting management in executing value-enhancing projects and providing access to its extensive partner network.
