Since the beginning of the year, the former General Counsel of Dax-listed VONOVIA SE, Dr. Thomas Görgemanns (50), joins the team of ARQIS in Dusseldorf as Of Counsel. His main areas of practice are Mergers & Acquisitions and Corporate Law.
As General Counsel Görgemanns steered two IPOs, three public takeovers and numerous other large transactions. Apart from that, as Chief Compliance Officer, he was in charge for the establishment and expansion of the Compliance Management at VONOVIA SE. With respect to his work in the takeover of the GAGFAH group by VONOVIA, Thomas Görgemanns and his team were nominated in 2015 for the award as “inhouse team for M&A” by the JUVE magazine, Germany’s leading specialist publisher of independently researched information on the German legal market for lawyers.

Görgemanns started his professional career as a lawyer in 1997 with Hölters & Elsing (today Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe) in Dusseldorf. In September 1999, he joined Baker & McKenzie, where he became a partner in 2004. Görgemanns then worked as General Counsel for the real estate companies GAGFAH S.A., LEG Immobilien AG and VONOVIA SE. He changes from the law firm Aulinger, where he most recently worked as a salary partner.
