As of today, ARQIS Rechtsanwälte and the Institute for Digital Transformation in Healthcare GmbH (idigiT) at the University of Witten-Herdecke offer the joint consulting unit “b.yond”. The focus is on companies that want to take responsibility for their digital transformation processes. The interdisciplinary team consisting of highly specialized lawyers, economists and scientists with many years of experience provides support at the interface between digital ethics and data-related legal issues.

Digitalization in companies is advancing at a rapid pace and calls for legal regulation are becoming louder. The German Federal Government’s Data Ethics Commission has called for an EU regulation on the use of algorithms. In Denmark, the largest companies in the country will be legally obliged to explain their data ethics guidelines in the management report as early as 2021. Companies must therefore become increasingly aware of the legal implications of data ethics. The basic data protection regulation provides the legal framework for personal data. In addition, companies will have to actively address issues of corporate digital responsibility and product liability.
