ARQIS advises the managing shareholder of SCHMABO on a growth partnership with Munich-based investment firm Maxburg
28. October 2026
ARQIS provided legal advice to the managing shareholder of Schmallenberger Bohrservice GmbH (“SCHMABO”) in connection with a growth partnership with Munich-based investment firm Maxburg. As part of the transaction, David Martins will retain a significant shareholding in the company and continue in his role as Managing Director of SCHMABO. Through this growth partnership, SCHMABO aims to further strengthen its position as a specialist in technically demanding rock drilling projects. To support this strategy, the company plans to invest in additional drilling capacity, establish new locations, and pursue targeted acquisitions.
Headquartered in Schmallenberg with a second site in Heideck, Bavaria, SCHMABO has developed into a nationwide provider of HDD drilling services in challenging soil and rock formations since David Martins joined the company in 2021. With more than 30 employees, the company delivers projects for the energy and utility infrastructure sector, particularly involving the installation of electricity, gas, and water pipelines.
Founded in 2014 and based in Munich, Maxburg is an owner-managed private equity firm specializing in long-term investments in companies across the DACH region.
An ARQIS team headed by Dr. Jörn-Christian Schulze provided comprehensive legal advice to David Martins throughout the transaction. The mandate was referred to ARQIS by M&A advisory firm Livingstone.
