ARQIS advises Martin Picard on the acquisition of all significant assets of leather goods manufacturer PICARD

ARQIS provided comprehensive legal advice to Martin Picard, the future sole managing director of leather goods manufacturer PICARD, during the investor process for the PICARD companies operating in Germany. He is acquiring the key assets of PICARD Lederwaren GmbH & Co. KG and PICARD Leathergoods Retail GmbH & Co. KG. Following approval by the creditors’ committee, Martin Picard will continue to operate the business under the PICARD brand as the sole managing director within the newly established companies Picard Leathergoods GmbH and Picard Retail GmbH. The transaction took effect on October 1, 2026.

Thanks to this successful investor solution, a large number of jobs will be preserved. The production facility in Obertshausen — including the outlet store — as well as the brand stores at the Frankfurt am Main and Munich airports, will continue to operate. In addition to stationary retail, the online business will be further expanded to meet the general market trend towards e-commerce. Existing retail partners will also continue to be supplied with the requested leather goods and accessories in the future.

PICARD manufactures and distributes leather goods, particularly bags and accessories. The long-established company was founded in 1928 by the Picard family in Obertshausen near Offenbach am Main and manufactures at its main production facility in Obertshausen as well as in Bangladesh and the Ukraine.

PICARD Lederwaren GmbH & Co. KG and PICARD Leathergoods Retail GmbH & Co. KG each filed for restructuring under self-administration before the Offenbach am Main Local Court in mid-June 2026. The proceedings were opened in early September 2026.
