Regulatory requirements relating to decarbonisation are challenging. The law governing national climate targets for Germany is the Federal Climate Change Act (KSG).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It stipulates that greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced by at least 65% by the year 2030. Stricter regulation will be necessary to achieve this target and the legislators have already recognised this. The Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Act (TEHG) and the Fuel Emissions Trading Act (BEHG) include specific regulatory provisions that envisage new monitoring plans, approvals procedures and reporting obligations.<\/p>\n

The Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG) and the Federal Immission Control Ordinance (BlmSchV) are other related regulatory instruments.
